These programmes featured recordings of Maori events made by the NZBS in the 1940s. These programmes are narrated in English and are presented by Ulric Williams, Clive Drummond and Airini Grennell of Ngai Tahu. The originals of the recordings of major hui 1938-1950 annotated by Mervyn McLean and approximately 70 discs of miscellaneous recordings belonging to the D series - mostly waiata-a-ringa, himene and moteatea, with some spoken te reo Maori - are also held at Sound Archives.
